I never imagined myself doing hair--I know, I know. That's exactly what you want to hear your hairstylist say, right? Stick with me, I promise it gets better. I started my education part-time online back in 2013 to pursue an English Education degree, and eventually a Master's in Guidance Counseling. I wanted to work with kids, psychology, and English. I started working at the local middle school in 2017. I loved it at first, but quickly realized that teaching wasn't for me because I didn't quite like state standards, nor did I like large groups of people and holding relationships at arms length.
 

I was miserable teaching, but I didn't know what to do. I had a friend who was a hairstylist and salon owner who had urged me for years to go to beauty school. I kept brushing it off, assuming I wouldn't be any good. She kept expressing that she thought I had the perfect personality to do hair. I thought about it a lot, especially since I wasn't a big fan of the career I had already chosen. Finally, in 2019, I made a rash decision about one week before the program started to go to beauty school.

I'm not exactly sure what I was afraid of, I was a natural and loved it. It reignited the passion I didn't know I had for beauty. Memories of the weddings, proms, and other school dances I was asked to do hair for through high school quickly re-surfaced.

Another close friend of mine specialized in bridal beauty and took me under her wing. I spent two years being her personal assistant and apprentice and she shared with me her talents, and encouraged me. I quickly grew in my abilities under her guidance.

And now, in 2023 I decided it was time to branch out on my own to launch L.K. Beauty; which encapsulates all salon work and on-location weddings and other special events. I'm so excited to embark on this journey, and I hope you will join!

L.K. Beauty exists to encourage you to live life beautifully. What I do with your hair and makeup doesn't change anything if you aren't happy with yourself. It starts in your heart and who you are. Are you kind? Are you gentle? Are you loving? Are you joyful? These values radiate out of individuals who hold them and cannot be created with shears, foils, and makeup brushes. My goal is to shine a light on those qualities, without diminishing the core of who you are.
